Citi has appointed Ryan Ellis as head of markets sales for Australia and New Zealand, effective immediately. Aside from his new role, he will continue to lead the rates sales franchise in the two markets.
Based in Sydney, Ellis will report to Cecile Gambardella, head of markets sales for Japan, Asia North and Australia, and Asia South, and Cristina Chang, head of markets for Australia, with additional reporting to Davy Tsang, head of rates investor sales for Asia North and Australia, and Asia South for his rates sales responsibilities.
In his new role, Ellis will lead the integration and execution of Citi’s sales strategy across financial institutions and corporate clients in Australia and New Zealand. He will coordinate closely with the markets product teams and partners across services, banking and international, bringing a unified approach to client engagement and value creation.
Ellis joined Citi in 2020 and brings over two decades of experience in financial markets, including five years in London. At Citi, he has led the Australia and New Zealand rates sales franchise since 2023, developing a market-leading rates sales franchise across diversified client segments, including major banks, global hedge funds, superannuation and other real money accounts.
Prior to Citi, he worked at Bank of America and Deutsche Bank. He was promoted to managing director in December.
