Amundi has introduced two funds in Hong Kong and Singapore, offering investors access to global and US fixed income opportunities that are free from benchmark constraints.
The Amundi Funds Global Bond Income ( GBI ) and Amundi Funds US Bond Income ( USBI ) aim to deliver a consistent level of income with lower volatility and drawdowns during market cycles.
Backed by Amundi’s strong fixed income research team, GBI adopts fundamental allocation across the full range of income-generating bonds, making the portfolio globally diversified.
The fund takes a long-term investment perspective. It invests in a broad range of global fixed income securities, including government, corporate, asset-backed, and emerging-market bonds, with the aim of delivering a consistent level of income throughout the investment cycle.
Led by London-based Grégoire Pesques, Amundi’s chief investment officer for global fixed income, the GBI portfolio management team screens the fixed income universe for quality income-generating bonds while avoiding default and equity volatility risks, balancing high-quality income and capital preservation over the market cycle and maintaining an average investment-grade credit rating at all times.
US allocation
On the other hand, USBI adopts a benchmark-free investment methodology to deliver total return and income by capturing alpha from active US sector allocation and securities selection. The fund’s strategy focuses on providing income with high diversifying power within the US fixed income universe.
The fund adopts an active and flexible investment approach, investing across the credit spectrum while dynamically managing spread and rate exposures based on market valuations. It aims to deliver returns with low correlation to major fixed income and equity market indices, and interest rates.
Boston-based Jonathan Duensing, Amundi’s director of fixed income, pioneer investments, has been managing the USBI strategy since its inception in 2004. He is supported by a strong team of 45 fixed income investment professionals.
“Expanding our bench of fixed income solutions offering in the region is a testament to Amundi’s commitment to offering choice for our clients who seek all-weather income solutions,” says Amundi’s Asia chief executive officer Eddy Wong. “These funds are designed to balance between portfolio resilience with yield – qualities that investors value more than ever in the current market environment.”
