Prudential shares included in Shanghai-HK Stock Connect
Additional trading mechanism to help expand insurer’s shareholder base in China
The Asset 13 Mar 2023

Prudential’s Hong Kong-listed shares are now included in the Shanghai-Hong Kong Stock Connect programme. This comes after the London-based insurer’s inclusion in the Shenzhen-Hong Kong Stock Connect and the Hang Seng Composite Index last year.

The Shanghai-Hong Kong Stock Connect enables investors in mainland China and Hong Kong to trade and settle shares listed on either market via the Shanghai Stock Exchange, the Stock Exchange of Hong Kong or clearing houses in their home market.

"This additional southbound trading mechanism will allow more investors in the Chinese mainland to share our growth and help lift our profile and shareholder base in China further," says Prudential’s group chief financial officer James Turner.

Prudential is due to report its 2022 full-year results on March 15.
